Male Fertility and Age Chart - How to Increase Sperm Count Naturally

    • 4.8   (6 Votes)

Male fertility age decline occurs as a man proceeds towards later stages of his life. If you are thinking how to increase sperm count naturally, then you need to reduce stress, consuming balanced diet, take supplements, and quit smoking and drinking. Poor sperm motility treatment is required for achieving pregnancy.

The biological age of a male is directly related to his fertility health. It is often ignored that age may play a pivotal role in affecting male fertility. Normally our notion about male age and fertility are affected by our celebrity worships where we see our favorite celebrities (George Clooney, Robert De Nero, etc.) becoming fathers at their older age. In that way, we think that male fertility is everlasting. But, in this article, we bring some groundbreaking revelations collected through our extensive research which will show whether the biological age of males affect their fertility or not. (1) (2)

    Does Age Affect Male Fertility?

The answer is yes. When a man grows older his sperm count and morphology are impacted significantly. Sperm’s shape, size, and structure are modified to a greater extent after the 40s. Changed shape and count of sperms make the men less fertile. (4) Although most men are able to father a child in their 50s, the chances of fathering get grimmer after 40s. (3) The possible reasons behind this can be summed up as-

1- As stated above, with age, sperm quality tends to decrease in men. Normally a growing biological age affects sperm quality and makes it difficult to fertilize an egg.

2- Poor sperm motility (Asthenospermia) affects male fertility

3- Erectile Dysfunction increases with age. Erectile Dysfunction prevents intercourse and thus an obstacle in the baby making process.

4- Abnormal sperm morphology(Teratospermia) involves irregular shape and size, which makes it difficult to fertilize the egg.

From the mid ’40s, testosterone levels in a man tend to deplete considerably affecting his libido and making it difficult to father a child easily.

The level of illness and depleting immunity start with aging in a human being. This is equally true in the case of the man. With growing age, certain medical problems with bowel movement and cardiovascular systems arise which hinders the sex drive. Along with this lower immunity level hits his fertility level hard.

Low sperm Concentration (Oligospermia) or better know as low sperm count is also one of the main reasons behind decreasing male fertility with age. The number of seminiferous tubules containing spermatids decreases with age, which leads to low sperm concentration. It has been medically studied that men’s sperm concentration decreases around 3% per year with their age.

These factors lead to increased time to conceive, more chances of miscarriage and complete infertility in some men. However, these factors discussed above are not absolute. There are men who are better with their hormonal and immunity level and father a child without much effort even with growing age.

Does your Wife/Partner’s Age affect your Fertility?

Yes. We will tell you why. Usually, the eggs in a woman’s ovary have a built-in mechanism, which can repair damaged DNA of sperms. But as similar to men, with growing age, this capacity in a woman’s eggs tends to decrease significantly. This is one of the reasons why offspring from an older parent faces genetic disorders and mutations. (5) (6)

How to protect your Fertility while Ageing?

Fortunately enough, there are plenty of options to improve your fertility along with the growing biological age. We have researched out some of the best tips to protect your fertility while you are aging. (7) (8) Read below

    Healthy diet protect your fertility

    1- A Healthy Diet is a must

Usually, older men tend to gain more weight due to lesser physical activity. With age, immunity also gets weaker with slow metabolism and weight gain. Research says that the men should take a diet rich in protein, calcium, and antioxidants to keep up with the growing age and fertility.

2- Cut back on Alcohol & Nicotine

Alcohol and nicotine are two of the greatest evils of human health. Smoking is dangerous if your partner is trying to conceive. Alcohol has the ability to lower your metabolism and it directly affects your sperm morphology. Quit smoking as it hinders baby making process as well as kills you gradually! (9)

    3- Minimize your stress level

A calm and stress-free mind helps you to get your libido back even at an older age. It is to be noted that, an excess level of stress reduces your sperm quality. So if you are trying for a baby at an older age then you can start doing meditation, yoga, cycling and jogging to reduce stress levels. It will increase your fertility health.

4- Take care of your pelvic/genital health

For those who are not aware of where sperm is made and stored, the answer is the testicles. Research says that our body makes better quality sperm when our groin is a bit cooler than our normal body temperature. The solution to it is to wear loosely fitted underwear and maintaining a daily cleansing routine.

5- Regular check up with your doctor/medical supervisor might help

If you are an older man and trying for a baby for more than a year, it is essential for you to get yourself diagnosed properly. Moreover, even if the baby-making plan is at a halt, one should go for a regular medical check-up. It can help to restore fertility for a longer time.
