In 1978, Louise Brown – the first ‘Test Tube Baby’ – was born following decades of pioneering work by their founders, Professor Robert Edwards and Dr Patrick Steptoe. Following this historic breakthrough, our founders set up Bourn Hall Clinic near Cambridge two years later – the first IVF clinic in the world. More than 30 years on – and thousands of babies and happy families later – they are still proud to share the same values as our pioneering fertility fathers. Bourn Hall is a supportive place for those on a journey to complete their family. Their aim is to make you feel at home in a caring environment – the ideal place to be when you are trying to start a family of your own. They offer a wide range of tests and treatments to help you have a family of your own – ranging from fairly simple treatments such as ovulation induction through to the latest high tech IVF treatments and techniques. The services offered by the clinic are IUI, IVF, ICSI, Ovulation Induction, FET, Blastocyst culture, IVF surrogacy, IMSI, and Surgical Sperm Retrieval (SSR), Egg, Embryo, Sperm Donation, Geri and Eeva, Intralipids, embryo screening (PGS), endometrial scratching, assisted hatching and more.
Their close-knit team of experienced fertility professionals will support you on every step of your journey, giving reassuring advice and creating a treatment plan that’s personal to you. The type of treatments they offer is continually expanding, as they strive to give you the best possible chance of becoming a parent and making your dreams come true. This includes a range of options to have a family using donor gametes and with many different ways to fund your treatment. To help you make the right decisions, they use everyday, easy-to-understand language – whether you are talking to our counsellors, consultants or other clinical staff, or reviewing details on our website. Everyone at Bourn Hall is passionate about following our founders’ vision of being ‘pioneers in treatment and experts in care’.
IVF is no longer such a controversial or taboo subject but it is still a deeply personal matter for people experiencing infertility who need special care and understanding. This is still at the heart of our ethos today whichever Bourn Hall clinic you choose. Several current members of Bourn Hall staff, including several of the senior management team, worked with Steptoe and Edwards in those early days. Their collective experience and expertise – as well as the skills and dedication of all of their healthcare professionals – will help guide you on your journey towards parenthood.
